When fishing for Bluefin Tuna, there’s no better place to start than the same place that holds the world record for this fish – Aulds Cove, Nova Scotia. This is where the 1496 lb Tuna was caught in 1979.
One of the most experienced captains you can find in the area is Captain Allan Anderson with Anderson Strait Fisheries. He’s been targeting Bluefin Tuna his whole life – he started by joining his father in the 1970s and now he’s accompanied by his son and grandson. Catching Bluefin is in their genes!
Capt. Allan was also a part of the documentary called “The Giant Tuna Experience” produced by Methods of Take out of California. This crew is also a 5-time winner of the Sharp Cup, which is one of the oldest sport fishing trophies in the world. They are the only team to ever win it 5 times!
Capt. Allan will take you out offshore on the Old Stick, a 45’ Four Ports boat. To ensure everyone’s fishing in comfort, the boat accommodates only up to 4 guests. She’s equipped with a fighting chair, outriggers, tuna tubes, a live bait tank and powered by a 315 HP Cummins engine.
The crew will cover your fishing equipment. You need to bring your own lunch, snacks, and drinks. Beer in moderation is also allowed. The captain also offers accommodation if you need one – contact him for more details.
Capt. Allan loves the thrill of fishing, taking people out on the water and telling stories to anyone who will listen. The excitement of landing one of these giants is next to none, and an experience you will never forget! Join Anderson Strait Fisheries, and you will feel that excitement too!
