Dear Mr Francis, I would like to say thank you for fishing with us and giving us an above average review. However we work very hard to try to always provide 5 star service. I see you had some concerns about the price of the charter. That is a shocker to me because of the fact that you booked a two person split charter for $375. (A split charter is sharing the cost of a full price private charter with two other people).  Even though the other two people did not show up, we still took you by yourselves. We are the only company in Key West that guarantees split charters with two people. You got an offshore private charter for half price. You caught a 45 lb Wahoo which is an unbelievable pelagic sport fish on light tackle. My captain Cory filleted the entire fish for you to take home. Again thank you for choosing us and hopefully we can meet your expectations next time.

Before I respond to anyone I like to hear from my captain and the other party that was on the boat just so you know I talked to the other people that were on the boat and they had a phenomenal time and couldn’t stop talking about how great John was as a captain and how hard he tried to put them on the fish. John has to do his best to make both parties as happy as possible on a shared charter. He took you out to over 1000 feet of water 20 miles offshore on a half-day shared charter looking for birds running and gunning that’s how we fish for dolphin and are very successful at our techniques.

My answer to you was absolutely there wasn’t many dolphin offshore so he came in closer just off the reef and caught different species of fish and filled a bag of fillets for you and the other party. Unfortunately we do not go offshore to fill peoples coolers with tons of fillets so they feel like they can go home and fill their freezer as you were expecting. My response to you was next time pay the extra money for a private charter and a longer trip and we will just target the species of fish that you want to go after but as we provide a light tackle fishing experience not a fill your cooler to the top trip. As for my boat as many people know a 36 foot Sea Vee with twin 300 Yamaha outboards as you went on today is close to a half million dollar vessel that is perfect for trolling and many other types of fishing. We do our best with every single person that steps on our boat and try to meet everyone’s expectations unfortunately yours were unrealistic. Thank you

Wow this is a shocker review. Out of our 62 reviews and before this, our worst review being one 3 star review, and 54 of our other reviews being 5 stars, it comes as a surprise. First off, Mr Ris booked our 36’ Coolcast boat, which is exactly the boat he got. I’m not sure what he’s talking about not getting the boat advertised.

He was correct that we had engine trouble on one of our two engines, which anyone who knows anything about outboard motors tends to happen on occasion. At 8am upon departure we realized the motor had an issue that was a fuel filter problem. We immediately took the boat to our personal Yahama mechanic who strictly for us. Our mechanic fixed the problem and we were back underway by 9am. No other company would have been able to fix that situation do quickly, as we are the only local company to have a full time Yahama mechanic on staff. Any other company would have had to cancel the trip entirely.

As for the fishing Mr Ris booked a 4 hr split charter, meaning he paid 1/2 the cost of private charter splitting the cost with another party. He wanted to go offshore and the other group wanted to reef fish. We chose to go offshore for our 4 hr trip. Yes the fishing was a little slow with catching one Tuna and a couple Mahi Mahi, as of course we can’t control the bite. Also, as Mr Ris said we offered him to cancel his trip at no cost after he had engine troubles (which not many other companies would have done) and he chose to continue the charter at 9am. We feel even though we had temporarily unfortunate start to the morning, we did everything we could to provide 5 star service.
