Inshore fishing for half day and quick first timer trips, including young kids (6-11/12) the off shore for older than 12 and/or experienced persons who know how they react to sea sickness because once the boat leaves the dock it returns X number of hours later. Trust the capt and mate as they know where the fish are and how to catch. Don’t be afraid to grab the rod when it’s time if trolling and know a predefined rotation of who gets the first, second, third, then it’s who is closest to the rod!!! Most let you bring food and water on the boat but eat small amounts and bring few waters or carbonated drink and snacks to help settle stomachs, don’t over eat prior to going. Whatever cost is, expect 20% tip to the mate, but overall, fishing is fishing, not guaranteed, but still enjoyable to get out there and have a good time!!

Charter a short local trip or go out with a friend who has some knowledge of fishing in the area. The best way to learn is from someone that already knows what they are doing, especially if you have never fished much. Once you learn a few basic skills and have some simple equipment, it can be pretty easy and excellent fishing.

The weather in March can be tricky, there is typically lots of wind and many weather related warnings which can make it difficult to actually get out on the water.

Just remember that it is what it is when fishing. Great weather doesn't always present fish. That's why they call it fishing and not "catching!"

Know what is in season and what you would like to fish for and know that it takes time to catch some species of fish.

My experience with the half day charter was excellent and exceeded my expectations. We tied a three day stay in Beaufort with the charter, which worked out well.

I didn’t think we were going to catch that many sharks, but after eating some I wish I had kept more of them. They were delicious.

It's a place that comes to life as far as fishing goes during May. You can catch so many different species of fish. I absolutely love Beaufort N.C. during May!!!
