Thank you Rodger! It was a pleasure meeting you and Steven, looking forward to fishing with you 2 again the next time you are out here visiting from Virginia!
Never fly fished before. Mark was an excellent teacher and very patient. Heโs a professional!
Thank you Dennis! It was a pleasure to spend the day with you and your grandsons, Johnny and Alex, what a couple of nice, polite young men. I really appreciated your tenacity especially, really working to learn the cast in a short 1/2 day trip. You experienced that โAHAโ moment that I talked about at the beginning of the day with 40ft. plus casts , right on target! Seeing that BIG Largemouth explode out of the water for your fly I hope was as thrilling for you as it was for the rest of us! I look forward to fishing with you again soon, feel free to call anytime! Thanks again Dennis, Capt. Mark

I was scheduled to meet the Clients, father Todd and 15 yr. old son Olie at 6:15 at the boat launch. Todd said he would be there about 15 minutes early, so i showed up at 6:00. At around 6:15 I called Todd and he said he couldnโt find the park entrance, i walked out and directed him in. Got in the boat, impeccably spotless as always and left the dock. I know that on the turn of the tide at 6:21, fish would be actively chasing bait right near the rampโฆ. Idled over about a couple hundred yards, I stepped up to the bow to demonstrate the proper casting and retrieving technique and on the 4th cast, hooked and landed a Striper.
Got the clients in position and within a few casts, they too had hooked fish. After about an hour of action with fish breaking all around, I was unhooking another fish for Olie when he said,โ this is the most fish we have hooked or seen on a trip ever!โ This after just an hourโฆ. After a while, I decided to show them some more of the Beautiful Delta and went to take off, the boat would not even get up on plane! I just got the boat back after taking it in because it would occasionally stall at idle, although in ran great under power. To say I was shocked and disappointed would be an understatement! I apologized profusely, Todd said he understood these things happenโฆ We fished for a while longer and when I went to start the motor to idle over to another spot nearby, the ignition switch completely spun around and I didnโt even have any power to adjust the trimโฆ.
Olie saw a rope swing and dove in to give it a go, said the water felt great, perfectโฆ.We decided to call it a half day, we had to slowly make our way back to the ramp, just with the trolling motor, against the tide, a slow process to be sureโฆ Saw a friend of mine in his boat, and he towed us back to the rampโฆ During this time, the client said he again understood that these things happen and to contact him when everything was straightened out so they could go again.ย Had to pull the boat up on the trailer to take out, which I normally just drive right on, this was hard because on the dock height and angle, thanked the clients for helping me as it would be nearly impossible to do by myself. Got home and noticed that the ignition switch had been removed and installed improperly, causing wires to touch under the dash, blowing a fuse, hence, no powerโฆ. I really hope Todd and Olie will fish with me again, I did my best giving 4 hrs. of constant casting instruction, by the end of the 4 hrs., their casting had already improved immensely, with Olie casting twice as far as at the start and really finding his groove!
Had to cancel a full day trip with past clients today, Sat., interesting that it was also a father and his 15 yr. old sonโฆ Back in the shop it goes, loss of more time and money ahead, hopefully the shop will make it rightโฆ. Again, my sincere apologies to Todd and Olie. Capt Mark Pinto
