This trip started out by being called after making a reservation to be informed that the trip location had changed from a 20 minute drive to an hour and 10 minute drive. We (a brand new couple) booked this as an adventure for our honeymoon and, despite the change, adjusted well because we wanted to have a good time. We were notified that the drive would be “slightly” longer but that it would promise more fishing time and more fish. We arrived at the location early and waited for the crew to arrive. They arrived on time and then prepped the boat and we were on our way. We were the only two passengers and there was one captain, so we were not crowded along the way. We stopped at a place and started fishing. The captain was good about baiting your lines and even casting if you weren’t capable of doing so. This was a little disconcerting, as both of us were able to bait and or cast our own lines. It felt a little awkward to try to refuse to give him the rod to cast every time, but eventually the guy let us start baiting and throwing as we wanted. We moved from this location after catching four fish over the span of two hours. The troller motor was not utilized once, which did not aid in our efforts to stay over the fish. When we arrived at the new location, we caught one large gag grouper within the first ten minutes of being at the spot. We then proceeded to roast for two hours in this spot and did not catch another thing. The captain refused to move to another spot, claiming “we don’t have time, by the time I get there the time will be up.” This was after he had refused to move to an area to catch keeper fish earlier in the trip. Despite us verbalizing the extra fishing time that had been promised to us, he pulled up the anchor and said “well, I’m sorry, we don’t promise that, the booking company does.” Overall, we left for our hour and ten minute drive home with one fish (which they did not completely remove skin or bones from when cleaning) and were pretty disappointed in the $450 this trip cost. I would not recommend this charter if you want to catch a lot of fish or request to move when you don’t catch anything for over half an hour. Again, the staff was nice, but it was not what we had hoped for and we felt we had been misled. The trip of a lifetime!

Our party of four booked our 4 hour Bradenton inshore fishing trip with Poseidon Fishing Adventures. To be sure we were familiar with the meeting place, we took a dry run to the address Poseidon provided in the confirmation. Upon arriving, we were warned by other charter fishing captains that Poseidon makes a habit of booking Bradenton trips only to change the meeting location. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened to us the night before our trip. If that was the only difference in what was promised on the reservation, we would have been understanding. That change was just the beginning. The four hour inshore fishing trip description suggested the availability of a variety of fish. Since we seemed to be targeting Snook, that was the only type of fish we encountered. The season for keepers opens tomorrow, but we could not keep any of the four we caught anyway as they were all below the legal size. Captain Mike was pleasant and spot on to bait our hooks and cast for us if we wished. However, he stayed in the same small area all morning only moving to a different spot twice in the same area. The boat was anything but the boat that was described on the internet. It was considerably smaller, did not have the advertised bathroom, and the seating was extremely substandard as the seats were soaking wet and remained that way all day since the vinyl was split exposing the foam below to the morning dew and water from the hose down. So as you can see, we were not pleased with our fishing trip. If you only want to hook and release Snook, then you will like it. If you want more action and variety then don’t book this trip. If you like us want to embark from Bradenton then you should use a different fishing charter company. We were not impressed with the small tributaries of Cockroach Bay where we fished.
