While on a family vacation I decided to take my son (10) and daughter (12) on a 4 hour fishing trip.

The Captain was responsive and met us exactly when he said. He was patient with the kids and made some good talk while we waited for the fish to bite. We had a good amount of action and caught 4 fish including a 55+ lb Tarpon and we did that while a strong wind storm passed through and he never gave up, we just kept on going!

If you’re looking for a short fishing trip and are excited at the thought of catching large Tarpon this is what you want!

Had a great morning of fishing for tarpon with Captain Paco. Left the dock promptly at 6a to get to the spot. Set the lines and had the first tarpon on within an hour.  Caught several more over the course of the morning. Lots of action with big fish.  Even caught a mangrove snapper as a bonus fish!  Captain Paco knows the area and has perfected his technique over his 27 years of guiding. Knowledgeable captain, good equipment and big active fish are a good recipe for a great fishing outing. This is exactly what Captain Paco delivers. I will be back soon enough to go after peacock bass.

We did the half day (4hr) trip in the afternoon. Paco is very professional and knowledgeable in not just fishing, but pretty much everything, from current events, world history, politics, eco environments, economics, etc.  No matter your interests, Paco will be able to carry on a great conversation with you in Spanish or English. I wouldn’t doubt if he speaks a few other languages as well😉

Anyways, back to the fishing part. Paco brought my family of 5 to fish two different locations in which we caught multiple Tarpon at both locations. Puerto Rico has the best Tarpon fishing in the world, and the places Paco brings you to proves it!! You will never have the opportunity to catch so many 30+ to 150+ pound fish in such a short amout of time anywhere in the world in my opinion.

So in our 4hr trip with Paco, 3.5hrs of lines in water we landed 4 Silver King Tarpon into the boat, biggest was a 70lb King. We had multiple strikes and misses, but the highlight was the one we couldn’t even land. We hooked two 150+ lb Tarpon, over 6 feet long (they jumped multiple times) and one we fought until he started to spool us so fast we had no time to pull in the other rods and anchers to chase him down so we had to pull him loose on a jump. Be prepared to catch one of these “Godzilla’s” as Paco calls them, decide ahead of time if your going to want to try and land when you hook one cuz (might be a 2hr-3hr fight) all other rods need to be pulled in as you will have to chase him with the boat like Jaws😀

All in all, my family will remember Paco’s fishing trip for ever as it was the highlight of our trip to Puerto Rico and the cost was priceless, literally, he’s got the cheapest prices I could find. I told him that, and he said he’d rather be cheaper and have volume and spend the time in the water with customers. Smart business!😉

Originally we were slated to fish for tarpon, but with a slow bite for a few days, Paco asked if we would rather catch lots of peacock bass instead of chancing a slow bite on tarpon. We flowed his expert advice and couldnt have been happier! My father inlaw and myself had an absolute blast of a time fishing peacock bass, which we had never even heard of before, let alone caught. Paco entertained us, showed us some new tricks, and got us on some amazing fishing. He is a wealth of knowledge and a great person to spend a morning with. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience or a better morning of fishing. If I could give this adventure 6 stars, I would! It was a morning we will never forget!

Paco was very friendly and helpful. He was experienced and great at finding the best fishing spots. Extremely responsive; excellent communication leading up to the trip. We felt very safe with him. He gave us great tips about the most affordable and convenient way to get back to the cruise ship. We caught multiple large Tarpon fish and he was considerate about getting us the best pictures. Would highly recommend. He’s a down to earth guy and great at his job!
