Hooked Up II
VERIFIEDStarted out by being on a different boat, the boat we went on was over 50 years old, but it was clean and looked kept up.ย Spent the 1st hour fishing for live bait, then the captain threw out the cast net and caught lots of bait (talked with the captain the day before and he was going to buy bait), so this was an hour that we did not fish.ย Trolled in out in front for the rest of the trip with no fish, just not biting?
Toward the end of the trip, one of the engines died and dumped oil into the water, so we had to help with the docking of the boat.ย I realize sometimes the fish donโt bite, but I would not go with this charter again.

Kerry Iโve been thinking about your review for a few days now and I would like to reply to you.
Yes we went on a different boat and you knew this before we left the dock (Fishing Booker also read me the riot act for it) However the Hooked Up II was not able to take you so I took you on one of the nicest charter boats here in South Florida at no extra cost to you.
And lets be clear on the age of the vessel it was built in 1964 and yes as you said in you review very well kept.
So well kept it belongs in a glass box as Iโm sure you know.
This vessel had been completely rebuilt from the stringer up. But enough about that lets talk about the live bait.
If you recall you called me days before our trip and asked me about these live baits that you had read reviews on??
I do recall explaining this to you for a good 15 min and how we use this goggle eyes for kite fishing and how they could make the difference between a good fishing trip and a great trip.
Also I made very clear that while they cost $80 dollars we DO NOT MAKE a red cent on them I also said that you did NOT HAVE TO GET THEM! But I think that maybe I spent so much time explain all this to you that were looking forward to fishing with them?
HOWEVER to fly a kite with these goggle eyes suspended from the kite we do need one little thin working for us and this little thing is called wind!!!
We had no wind Kerri and thatโs why I saved you from spending $80 dollars on baits that we DID NOT NEED or could not use.
Donโt want to be long winded here but goggle eyes are great kite bait but as far as slow trolling them they are not worth a darn they start suing and die within a few minutes.
So instead I ran very far as you know to find some live ballyhoo witch your grand kids had a ball catching and yes they are a great slow trolling bait for sailfish tunas Mahi ECT.
So after trolling these live baits for quite some time I decided to try some faster trolling with dead baits knowing you really had a fish fry in mind after our trip.
And nope they were not biting and that stinks I get it but you know Danieal and I tried our best.
Than just as we were running out of time we all seen something next to the boat witch turned out to be a cup or 2 of oil. Well on a boat when you see oi; pump out this really gets your action as Iโm sure you know since youโve done quite a bit of boating yourself.
And I went into the engine room WHILE THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING I seen oil splattered all over the place!@$@$^
OK now I know shut engine down RIGHT AWAY as Iโm sure you know this as well??
Here is where it worked out for you:
I was going to take my boat back to my house about 5 miles up the river after our trip I knew we were just going to dock her back at the Hilton for the night so we stayed out an EXTRA HOUR However yep still no fish.
As we pulled back to the dock I was not going to take a chance on having a hydraulic lock and blow up one of my
$80,000 dollar engines so yes docking it on one engine was a bit tricky but you grand son who works on a boat and your other grand son how has spent a lot of time on boats yelled out (Hey how can we help) and yep they did help us out and tell them thanks again for us.
FYI the problem was a dirty filter witch caused some back pressure witch blew the oil dip stick out about an inch and that where the oil came from (THANK GOD)
Kerri I truly believe you were very disappointed that we did not catch dinner and I feel your disappointment BUT one thing I will share with you Daniel and I were more disappointed then you were really had a good time with you guys and we really wanted to catch em for you guys.
While you would not recommend fishing with us I WOULD FISH WITH YOU IN A HEARBEAT I would love to show you guys a box full of fish.
If you make back down here give Fishing Booker a call and lets give it another show I WILL GIVE YOU A DISCOUNT OR A LITTLE EXTRA TIME on me.
Thanks for taking the time to read my letter.
